New invention takes PPE to a higher performance level
PRETECH offers properties not earlier available in PPE resin systems. PPE is a great polymer, but it cannot be processed as such. This is why all PPE grades are plasticized with another polymer. Polystyrene is normally used, but also modified polyamide and polypropylene grades exist.
Premix has developed a new patented technology to enable the best combination of existing PPE properties and properties previously seen in much more expensive resins. The PRETECH plasticizing technology provides processability without lowering the Tg of neat PPE. This gives much higher temperature resistance than ever seen on PPE resins together with all the best properties of neat PPE, such as very low water absorption, low density, inherent flame retardance and excellent dielectric properties. That makes PRETECH a true highperformance PPE justifying its position on the very top of the plastic pyramid. Being a melt-compounded product, PRETECH can be easily and costefficiently modified to optimally meet desired property combinations.
