Background & Challenge
Axjo is a Swedish company known for sustainable innovation offering advanced cable spools and reels for all types of wire and cable, along with customized packaging solutions. As part of the ambition to grow Axjo wanted to expand their packaging solutions business. As customer demand for ESD-safe storage solutions continued to grow, Axjo identified an opportunity to complement its storage system offering with ESD certified storage bins.
At the same time, sustainability expectations in the market are increasing. Axjo was specifically looking for electrically conductive material solutions containing recycled raw material content that could support both ESD performance requirements and the company’s environmental ambitions.
In discussion with Alsiano A/S, Premix’s local distribution partner, we reviewed possible solutions that would work best for Axjo.
Solution
To support Axjo’s new ESD storage solution offering, Premix supplied PRE-ELEC® PP19599, electrically conductive polypropylene-based material containing recycled plastics content and designed for demanding ESD packaging and storage applications.
The selected PRE-ELEC® PP19599 material combines reliable ESD performance with recycled content, supporting Axjo’s goal of developing more sustainable ESD storage solutions. The material is designed for demanding boxes, pallets, and industrial storage applications and helps to support evolving circular economy and PPWR-related packaging requirements.
The collaboration between Axjo, Alsiano, and Premix helped to ensure the selected material solution met both technical performance expectations and sustainability targets.
Results
With the support of Premix and Alsiano, Axjo successfully expanded its offering into conductive ESD storage solutions containing recycled plastic material content.
The cooperation enabled:
- A new business opportunity in ESD control storage systems
- More sutainable storage solutions with recycled-content-based materials
- Reliable ESD performance for industrial storage applications
- Strong collaboration across the value chain between material supplier, distributor, and manufacturer
The developed ESD storage solution has also been tested and approved according to IEC 61340-5-3:2022 and IEC 61340-2-3:2016, supporting reliable performance in demanding industrial ESD control applications.
